 Mohanlal and Antony Perumbavoor get clean chit in 'Swapna Malika' row

A 18-year-old case against actor Mohanlal and producer Antony Perumbavoor has been dismissed by a Kozhikode court. The judge found no basis in the cheating allegations, agreeing with the lower court's earlier decision. The complainant, K. A. Devarajan, passed away last year, but the court reviewed all evidence before clearing the duo.

An 18-year-old case against actor Mohanlal and producer Antony Perumbavoor has now been closed by the court.The case had been there for many years and now the judge looked at everything again and said the case cannot continue anymore.

Reports from Mathrubhumi News says that the judge was Kozhikode Fifth Additional Sessions Judge Janice Stephen who said that the criminal revision petition made by director and advocate K. A. Devarajan does not stand. So Mohanlal and Antony are now free from all the charges.

Court says the claims had no base

Reportedly the judge also agreed with what the lower court said earlier. Both courts looked at the complaint and said the things in the complaint had no base.For the unversed, the complaint had said that Mohanlal and Antony took money for a movie and then did not help with the film. But after checking everything, the court ordered that the complaint does not have strong points and cannot be accepted. So they were fully cleared.

Complainant passed away last year

While the case was still being looked at by the court, the person who made the complaint, K. A. Devarajan, passed away on April 15, 2025.Even though Devarajan passed away the court still looked at all the papers and the old order.

After reading everything, the judge said the lower court’s decision was right.

What the complaint had said

The complaint said that Mohanlal and Antony had taken a cheque for Rs 30 lakh from Devarajan on March 29, 2007. The money was for a film that Devarajan wanted to make. The movie was named 'Swapna Malika' and the complaint said they later did not help with the film and that this was considered cheating.Update on 'Drishyam 3'On the other side, Mohanlal is now busy with his much-awaited movie Drishyam 3.
