Two men have been arrested in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district for allegedly raping a minor girl. The offence came to light when the survivor's family found out she was pregnant.
The accused have been identified as Madkam Hinga alias Madkam Arjun, and Rahul Sodi alias Rupesh Sodi. The police have invoked various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against the duo.
The girl has claimed that she was lured by both men with false promises of marriage. She alleged that they raped her on separate occasions.
It remains to be determined which of the two men, who did not know each other, impregnated the minor. The pregnancy was detected after the minor complained of severe abdominal pain and was taken to a hospital for medical examination.
During the check-up, doctors discovered that she was two-months pregnant. The revelation prompted her family to question her firmly. Eventually, the girl narrated her ordeal to them.
After learning about the offence, the family approached the police on June 3, and an FIR was registered later the same day. Acting swiftly, the police registered a case and arrested both the accused.
They have been remanded to judicial custody. The police are thoroughly investigating every aspect of the case.
