In Chhattisgarh's Kanker district, the residents of Maspur village face a severe drinking water crisis. Without access to clean water, women trek a punishing three-kilometer mountain path twice a day to fetch water from a small, stagnant pool. This source is shared with animals, and drinking from it frequently causes children to fall sick. Additionally, despite electricity poles being installed years ago, the village still lacks power. While villagers have repeatedly approached officials for a borewell with little success, authorities have now assured that water supply arrangements will be made before June 15.
