Two people died while several workers were trapped as a landslide hit an under-construction tunnel road project connecting Malappuram and Wayanad districts in Kerala. Rescue operations are currently underway with the National Disaster Response Force, the state disaster management force, and the fire brigade deployed at the site. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for the district amid heavy rainfall. The Kerala Agriculture Minister described the landslide as a man-made disaster, attributing it to unscientific dumping and sand accumulation linked to the ongoing construction project. Six injured people are currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital, and their condition is reported to be stable.
