In a heartbreaking incident near Salehpur Mor, a high-speed car lost control and plunged into a deep ditch, resulting in the tragic deaths of two engineering students. Three others were left with serious injuries following this devastating crash early Thursday morning. The vehicle, allegedly hurtling down the road at about 100kmph, was mangled, leaving the unfortunate passengers trapped.
Patna: Two engineering students died and three others were seriously injured when a speeding car lost control and plunged into a deep ditch near Salehpur Mor and Gaudapar in the Chandi police station area of Nalanda district early Thursday morning.
The car was travelling at a high speed, estimated to be around 100kmph, when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to crash into the ditch. The impact was so severe that the car was badly damaged and the students were trapped inside, police said.The victims were identified as Ashish Kumar and Rahul Ranjan. Three other critically injured students —Dheeraj Kashyap, Utsav Singh and Shashikant — were given primary treatment and referred to private hospitals for better medical care.
All the students are from Nalanda Engineering College. All five were travelling in a car coming from the Chandi side.Eyewitnesses said the car’s speed was extremely high. The vehicle was moving at around 100kmph. Near Gaudapar, the driver lost control of the car, which veered off the road and flipped directly into a ditch. The impact was so severe that the car was badly damaged and the students got trapped inside.Hearing the screams, locals and passers-by immediately rushed to the spot.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Chandi police also arrived at the spot. With the help of police and locals, the students trapped in the car were pulled out after considerable effort and immediately rushed to the referral hospital by ambulance, where two were declared dead.Injured Utsav Kumar is a resident of Samastipur and Shashikant Kumar hails from Rohtas. Ashish Kumar was a resident of Jamui, and Rahul Ranjan was a resident of Katihar.
Injured Dheeraj Kashyap is a resident of Gaya.Chandi SHO Suman Kumar said, “The car’s speed was very high, due to which the vehicle went out of control between Salehpur and Gaudhapar and fell into a ditch. The bodies were sent to Biharsharif Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. Police are investigating the matter.”As soon as the news of the accident spread, there was an uproar on the college campus and among the families of the students.
