2 from Nepal arrested with 39kg ganja

In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Bihar Police and the SSB detained two nationals from Nepal at Sindhwalia Chhatiya Ghat, recovering 39kg of ganja hidden on their motorcycle. The suspects, hailing from Parsa district, were stopped based on reliable intelligence regarding illicit cross-border drug activities. Ongoing investigations aim to dismantle the larger smuggling operation linked to this seizure.

Bettiah: In a joint operation conducted on Saturday evening by the Bihar Police and the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), two Nepalese nationals were arrested near Sindhwalia Chhatiya Ghat in the Kangli police station area of West Champaran district while allegedly transporting 39kg of ganja on a motorcycle.

The accused are residents of Sonbarsa village under Bairiya police station in Parsa district of Nepal.SP Shaurya Suman said, “We received credible information about the movement of narcotics across the border. Acting on this, a joint team of the police and SSB laid a trap near Sindhwalia Chhatiya Ghat, where the suspects were apprehended with 39kg of ganja concealed on a motorcycle. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and further investigations are underway to trace the network involved in this smuggling attempt.

Police said the operation was part of intensified surveillance along the border to curb cross-border smuggling, adding that further questioning of the arrested persons was underway to ascertain the source and intended destination of the seized contraband.
