Four Indian Army soldiers were injured in the exchange of fire overnight in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam as the anti-terror operation entered its ninth day, officials said on Saturday, adding that two of them sustained critical injuries.
Firing continued in the hills of Kulgam, officials said.
“The terrorists are heavily armed and carrying sophisticated weapons with them," they said.
The encounter broke out on August 1 after security forces launched a cordon and search operation in a forest area at Akhal in the south Kashmir district, following specific information about the presence of heavily armed terrorists in the area.
A top cop said that the forces were using all means, including drones and helicopters, to hunt terrorists in the forest area.
