The first Florence Nightingale Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) Programme for nursing officers was conducted at the Government Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital here on Sunday (May 31), marking a first-of-its-kind initiative focused on ophthalmic nursing education in Telangana. The programme brought together around 200 delegates from different parts of the State.
The initiative was aimed at strengthening professional development and continuing education among nursing personnel while providing recognised academic credits through the State Nursing Council. The Telangana State Nursing Council awarded 5 credit hour points to nursing officers who registered and participated in the programme.
Hospital Superintendent Moudini Pandharpurkar said the programme was designed specifically for ophthalmic nursing officers and focused on various aspects of eye patient care. Sessions covered topics including patient management in wards, operation theatre procedures, sterilisation protocols, assistance during surgeries, and preparation and packing of surgical trays.
The resource persons for the programme were faculty members from the hospital who shared practical knowledge and demonstrations based on their day-to-day work. Videos showcasing actual procedures performed by nursing staff were also presented during the sessions to provide hands-on learning experiences.
