Twenty-three foreign nationals were detained by the Hyderabad Police during a cordon and search drive conducted within the Tolichowki police station limits for overstaying in the country even after the expiry of their visas .
The operation was carried out late on February 16 in Paramount Colony (Gates 1 to 4), IAS Colony and Hakeempet Kunta, following specific intelligence inputs about the illegal stay of certain individuals in the area.
Around 250 police personnel participated in the exercise, which involved 10 search parties, seven cut-off teams, five lifting teams and two holding points to prevent escape and ensure systematic verification.
With assistance from the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), Hyderabad, police identified and apprehended 23 foreign nationals.
During the searches, officials also seized 30 two-wheelers lacking valid documents, nine gas cylinders allegedly being used for illegal refilling activities, and 53 liquor bottles (90 ml and 180 ml) possessed or sold unlawfully.
Police said further legal proceedings are being initiated against those found violating visa norms and other laws. The Golconda zone police stated that such operations would continue to ensure compliance with residency regulations and to maintain law and order.
