Roorkee: Three men were killed and two others critically injured after two motorcycles collided head-on near Bajuhedi village along the Gangnahar embankment road under Civil Lines police station limits late Monday night.Police said the accident took place around 11pm when a motorcycle without a registration plate, carrying Raja Singh, 20, Shivam Hanshlal, 19, and Jasveer Singh, 24 — all residents of Bahadurpur Khadar village in Haridwar’s Laksar — collided with another motorcycle ridden by Gyanu Rajkumar, 27, and Deepak Kumar, 25, both residents of Rohana Kalan village in UP’s Muzaffarnagar district. The two were heading towards Haridwar, police said.The impact flung all five riders off the bikes, which were badly mangled. Locals rushed to the spot and alerted police and ambulance services. The injured were taken to Civil Hospital Roorkee, where doctors declared Raja, Jasveer and Deepak dead.Gyanu Rajkumar and Shivam Hanshlal were referred to a higher medical centre due to the severity of their injuries. Their condition was stated to be critical.Police conducted post-mortem examinations on Tuesday and handed the bodies over to the families. “With Kanwar yatra set to begin, traffic on roads will increase significantly. We appeal to motorists to avoid overspeeding, as rash driving will become even more dangerous,” said Pradeep Bisht, station house officer of Civil Lines police station.
