Rourkela: Three men were arrested and three juveniles detained on Monday, allegedly for gang-raping a 14-year-old girl in Sundargarh district.Police said the juveniles, aged 15, 16 and 17, were produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, which sent them to an observation home, while a local court remanded the adult accused, aged 20, 23 and 25, to judicial custody.The survivor, who hails from Chhattisgarh, had come to stay with her uncle in a village in Sundargarh.According to an FIR lodged on Sunday, she had gone to a wedding ceremony on Saturday evening. As she stepped outside the venue, four youths, who had been following her, forcibly took her on a motorcycle to a secluded location, where they allegedly raped her, police said.Investigators alleged that the accused later took the girl to an abandoned house, where two other youths also sexually assaulted her.
The accused then allegedly dropped her near her uncle’s residence around 1 am on Sunday before fleeing.After reaching home, the girl informed her family members about the incident, following which her uncle lodged a complaint at the local police station, and a case was registered. The survivor underwent a medical examination, while a scientific team examined the alleged crime scenes. Medical examinations of the accused were also conducted. “Six accused, including three juveniles, have been apprehended in connection with the gang-rape case and further investigation is underway,” Sundargarh SP Amritpal Kaur said.
