At least 31 NCC cadets attending a camp at the IIITDM campus in Jabalpur fell ill on Wednesday and were admitted to the district hospital after complaining of headache, dizziness, vomiting and fever, officials said.

The cadets had come from nearby districts to participate in the NCC camp being conducted at the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing Jabalpur campus on Dumna Road.

Doctors said the condition of all cadets is stable and under control. Preliminary assessment suggests that the students may have been affected due to heatwave conditions or food poisoning.

CSP Sonu Kurmi said the children were undergoing treatment and were out of danger.

“The children of the NCC camp have been affected due to food poisoning or loo. All the children are out of danger and are undergoing treatment," he said.

Hospital authorities said all affected cadets remain under observation and their condition is stable.
