You know a post is unusual when it doesn't start an argument - it starts a math lesson.A man's post on X has become the latest example after he shared what he claimed was his girlfriend's monthly spending in Bengaluru.
The figures surprised many users, who soon filled the comments with jokes, salary estimates, and their own take on whether the expenses were realistic.
Here's what he listed
Sharing the post, the man wrote, “My girlfriend’s Bangalore expenses.” He claimed she spends Rs 12,000 on oversized Zara hoodies, Rs 6,500 on coffee from Blue Tokai, Third Wave, and Nylon; and Rs 8,000 on skincare products. The list also included Rs 4,000 for a gym membership, Rs 11,000 on weekend brunches, and Rs 3,500 on streaming services.
He joked that the subscriptions were now his, too.According to the post, salon visits cost Rs 5,000 every three weeks. Rent in Indiranagar or Koramangala was listed at Rs 35,000, while “quick shopping trips” to Forum or Phoenix malls came to Rs 15,000. He also included Rs 7,000 on cab rides because of "traffic anxiety."He ended the post by writing, “Total - ???? After reading this, I forgot the math for the total.”
The comments quickly turned into a debate
One user wrote, “What a shame that she, being YOUR GIRLFRIEND, has to spend on oversizedhoodies.”
Another commented, “I mean, if she earns 2 lakh plus, then okay, otherwise bro atleast u have a gf.”Some users felt the biggest expense on the list wasn't shopping.“The most expensive item here isn’t Zara. It’s Indiranagar,” one person wrote.Another joked, “Bro, the girlfriend subscription is the real Rs 1L+ plan.”A different user estimated, “Not too much, 107k salary will be good too then.”Others discussed the kind of income they believed would be needed. One user wrote, “Might be having some sugar daddy or working on Google, Microsoft, Meta or Quant firms. If she is spending 1L+ cash in hand should be 2L+ and considering tax 25% gross salary minimum 35-40L. So basically, if it’s your real girlfriend out of respect she is social media addict.”Disclaimer: This article is based on a viral social media post.
