40 devotees fall ill after consuming ‘anna prasadam’ in Nandigama

Around 40 people fell ill after consuming “anna prasadam” during the Sri Rama Navami festival celebrations at Chandapuram village in Nandigama mandal of NTR District. The devotees complained of giddiness and vomiting, and were admitted to different hospitals on Saturday (March 28, 2026). Their condition is stated to be stable.

Officials collected the samples of ‘anna prasadam’, food, and water served during the festival. “Except for four devotees, all the patients have been discharged from the hospital. The food and water samples will be sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for examination,” a police officer told The Hindu on Sunday (March 29). Investigation is under way, the police said.
