The head-on collision between two buses
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: At least 43 passengers, including students, were injured when a state transport bus operating under the Manav Vikas Mission collided head-on with another MSRTC bus on a narrow bridge near Shahapur in Ambad taluka of Jalna district on Saturday morning.The drivers of both buses sustained serious injuries, while several passengers suffered major injuries and were rushed to different hospitals for treatment.The police said the accident occurred when the Manav Vikas Mission bus (MH14 BT3022), carrying students and travelling from Shahagad to Ambad, crashed into an MSRTC bus (MH14 MH 1750) operating on the Jalna-Akkalkot route.“Poor judgement of the drivers led to both buses colliding head-on on a narrow bridge,” said sub-inspector Kiran Havale, of the Gondi police station.News of the collision spread rapidly in Shahapur and surrounding villages, prompting local residents to rush to the spot and assist in rescue efforts before emergency services arrived.“Injured people were sent to various hospitals for treatment depending upon the nature of injuries. The driver of one of the buses is in a serious condition,” Havale said.The police said no case had been registered till Saturday night as statements of the injured passengers were yet to be recorded.
“As the injured people were taken to different hospitals, and we are struggling to record their statements,” the police said. A case will be registered after the statements are collected and the circumstances leading to the collision are established, officials said.
