Health Minister K. Muraleedharan has said that the Cherooppa sub-centre of the Government Medical College Hospital (MCH), Kozhikode, will be upgraded as a modern community health centre. A master plan worth ₹50 crore for the comprehensive development of the facility would be prepared soon, he said after visiting the centre on Saturday.

Mr. Muraleedharan’s visit followed a recent submission in the Assembly by M.A. Razak, Kunnamangalam MLA. The Minister said corporate social responsibility funds would be utilised for the development of the health centre. The works would be completed in three years. Once enough buildings were ready, the government would take up further development works, he added.

Mr. Razak, meanwhile, said that upgrading the health centre would help patients from at least 14 grama panchayats in Kozhikode and Malappuram districts. It would also reduce the rush to the Kozhikode MCH, he added. M.K. Raghavan, Kozhikode MP, and medical college officials were present, among others.
