50kg ganja destroyed in Dharwad

Dharwad: On the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, police destroyed narcotics seized in various cases on Thursday. Superintendent of police Gunjan Arya had constituted a team of officials, named the ‘Drug Disposal Committee’, to dispose of narcotic substances seized under cases registered under the NDPS Act in Dharwad district.

Among the cases registered under the NDPS Act across all police stations in Dharwad district during 2025 and 2026, ganja seized in three cases — excluding samples retained as evidence — weighing a total of 49.9kg, was destroyed.
