66-year-old UP man kills watchman over illicit affair with his wife

PRAYAGRAJ: The Naini police on Sunday arrested a man for killing a 70-year-old private watchman on the intervening night of April 2 and 3 over an illicit affair. Cops also recovered the axe used in the crime.The accused, Ramlal (66), told police that his wife, Anarkali, 65, was involved in an illicit relationship with her neighbour Hazari Lal for about eight years.He said he had cautioned his wife to snap all her ties with Hazari but to no avail. Due to this, Ramlal felt deeply distressed and hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Hazari.On the fateful day, Ramlal left his home around 2am carrying an axe. He went to Hazari Lal's house and hit him on the head with the blunt side of the axe.When Hazari Lal collapsed, Ramlal struck him repeatedly on the face and head, resulting in his death. Ramlal then returned home and concealed the weapon and went to sleep.After Hazari's murder, the deceased son lodged an FIR against an unknown person under section 103 (1) of BNS. Senior cops constituted a special police team to crack case. With the help of electronic surveillance like CCTV footage and informers, cops managed to reach Ramlal. After a sustained interrogation he confessed to his crime.
