Four separate road accidents across Jharkhand killed seven people, including three siblings, within 24 hours. The deaths, some involving families travelling for weddings, have again spotlighted unsafe driving and fatal crashes on state roads.

Seven people, including three siblings, were killed in separate road accidents across four districts of Jharkhand over the past 24 hours, police said on Saturday. The deaths were reported from Lohardaga, Gumla, Chatra and Latehar.
The accidents involved a truck and scooter collision, a car crashing into a tree, a head-on collision between two trucks, and a pick-up van hitting the boundary wall of an abandoned house. Police said the victims were returning from or travelling to wedding functions in two of the incidents.
In Lohardaga, three siblings, including two girls, were killed after a truck collided head-on with their scooter on Friday night near Mission Chowk on the Lohardaga-Gumla Main Road while they were travelling to a wedding. Lohardaga police station officer-in-charge Ratnesh Mohan Thakur said, "Two sisters died on the spot, while their 25-year-old brother, Rohit Kumar Sahu, succumbed to his injuries en route to RIMS Ranchi. They hailed from Barwatoli village."
He said the truck was going towards Lohardaga from Senha, while the scooter riders were travelling in the opposite direction. Police said the truck has been seized and its driver is absconding. The bodies were handed over to the family after post-mortem examinations.
In Gumla, two people were killed on Saturday after their speeding car hit a tree near Kali Temple within Palkot police station limits. Palkot police station officer-in-charge Tarun Kumar said, "Two persons were killed in the accident while returning from a wedding ceremony. Four people were on board the car. Among the two deceased, one was the groom's father, identified as Kamlesh Sahu (50), a resident of Baia Longa village. The other died en route to RIMS, Ranchi."
In Chatra, a truck driver from Bihar's Gaya district was killed after his vehicle collided head-on with another truck in the Sanghari valley area on the Chatra-Gaya road within Sadar police station limits. Chatra Sadar police station in-charge Awadhesh Kumar said, "The deceased, identified as Sunil Kumar Yadav (28), is a resident of a village in the Barachatti police station area in Bihar's Gaya district. The accident happened when another truck from the opposite direction collided head-on with the victim's truck while he was transporting coal from the Tandwa area to Uttar Pradesh."
In a separate incident in Latehar district, a pick-up van driver was killed after the vehicle hit the boundary wall of an abandoned house by the roadside within Herhanj police station limits, Herhanj police station officer-in-charge Krishna Pal said.
Across Jharkhand, the four accidents claimed seven lives in a span of 24 hours, with police reporting three deaths in Lohardaga, two in Gumla, and one each in Chatra and Latehar.
