Indore: Eight commercial establishments were sealed on Saturday for failing to comply with mandatory fire safety standards.The action by Indore Municipal Corporation was part of ongoing city-wide inspection drive targeting commercial, institutional, and high-rise buildings across all municipal zones.During inspections, civic officials evaluated fire safety infrastructure, including extinguishers, fire alarm systems, hydrant networks and establishments found operating without fire safety equipment or utilizing non-functional systems were issued notices outlining necessary corrective measures.The civic body initiated sealing operations after managements of these establishments failed to install or repair the required firefighting equipment within the stipulated time frame.“The responsibility for installing and maintaining functional firefighting equipment rests entirely with the building operators. The municipality will continue to take strict punitive action against any violations to guarantee regulatory compliance across the city,” IMC commissioner Kshitij Singhal told TOI.
