87-year-old man killed in lightning strike in Idukki

An 87-year-old man died after being struck by lightning in Idukki on Tuesday evening. The deceased has been identified as Puthenpurakal Devasia a resident of Aarekkar, near Marykulam, under the Ayyappancovil panchayat.

According to police, Devasia was entering the bathroom when he was hit by lightning. Neighbours rushed him to a private hospital in Kattappana, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
