Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand at a review meeting on Tuesday evaluated coal stock positions, maintenance schedules, and the operational readiness of thermal power plants. Acknowledging the seasonal dip in solar power generation during the monsoon, he underscored the importance of maximising output from Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Limited’s (APGENCO) thermal units and Sileru hydel stations.

The officials projected daily power demand to rise to 216 million units (MU) in July, 231 MU in August, and 232 MU in September. In response, Mr. Vijayanand urged continuous review of coal inventories and instructed that no major plant overhauls be scheduled from August 20 to October 31 to ensure uninterrupted supply.

He emphasised that delivering consistent, high-quality electricity remains a core government priority. “Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar are committed to ensuring round-the-clock power for all,” he said, directing the power utilities to align with this vision and take proactive steps to prevent disruptions.

A.P. TRANSCO Directors  J. Venkateswara Rao (Technical), Sri A.K.V. Bhaskar (Grid), N.V. Ramana Murthy (Finance), and APGENCO Director P. Ashok Kumar Reddy were present.
