Industries and Commerce Minister T.G. Bharath said that the NDA government has been working towards the all-round development of women in the State. Mr. Bharath was participating in an event organised on the occasion of the 100-day programme to train women in sewing, which neared its completion at the KVR College, here in Kurnool on Monday.

Highlighting the steps taken by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu-led government towards empowerment of women, Mr. Bharath said that the government is providing ‘Thalliki Vandanam’ financial assistance to mothers of all schoolgoing children. He also asked the eligible women to utilise the scheme for the better future of their children. Similarly, the government will soon launch the free bus ride for women scheme, he said.

Stating that tailoring has become a good business nowadays, the Minister said that women can earn more income if they hone their skills and utilise the same. Mr. Bharath assured that women would also be given training in making toys in the coming days. He thanked the BC Corporation for coming forward and imparting training to the women.

BC Corporation had been imparting training to 3,400 women from BC and EBCs in basic tailoring and those who attend 75 per cent of the training days will be given a sewing machine free of cost. Those who exhibit good skills in tailoring will be further trained in fashion designing.
