India has hit out at Pakistan for harbouring terrorists and said Operation Sindoor was not just  India’s right but a solemn duty.

Speaking at the UN Human Rights Council, Indian diplomat Kshitij Tyagi said Pakistan claims victimhood, but it is the epicentre of jihadist terrorists.

“When a state harbours terrorists who massacred innocents, defensive action (Operation Sindoor) is not just a right, it is but a solemn duty," he said.

The Indian diplomat said Pakistan never fails to disappoint, from hosting terrorist Osama bin Laden to conducting state funerals for terrorists.

Tyagi said Pakistan has misused the Indus water treaty’s procedures to “obstruct" India’s legitimate projects over several decades.

Operation Sindoor

On May 7, India conducted strikes at nine terror camps in Pakistan and PoK under Operation Sindoor, two weeks after 26 people were killed in the Pahalgam terror attack. Indian armed forces thwarted all Pakistan’s retaliatory actions by shooting down their drones and missiles before they could harm citizens.

On May 9-10, India used the Brahmos missile to inflict serious damage to multiple Pakistan air bases, including Sargodha, Rahim Yar Khan and the Nur Khan airbases. At least 42 Pakistani military personnel were killed in Indian strikes. Following this strike, the conflict ended on May 10 after Pakistan requested for ceasefire.

Earlier today in a phone call with US President Donald Trump, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India’s actions under Operation Sindoor were measured, precise, and non-escalatory. He further reiterated that India had made it clear that any gunfire from Pakistan would be met with stronger retaliation from India.

PM Modi also stated that India now views terrorism not as a proxy war, but as an act of war and that Operation Sindoor is still ongoing.

Speaking at the G7 Outreach Session in Kananaskis, PM Modi said the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, where 26 people were killed in April this year, was an assault on humanity.

He also said there should be no place for double standards on terrorism, and that countries which openly support terrorism are often rewarded, apparently referring to Pakistan, which receives billions of dollars in aid and misuses it to finance cross-border terror.
