The Belagavi district administration has issued orders mandating the use of Aadhaar verification during registration of land documents.

Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Mohammad Roshan has issued orders making Aadhaar-based verification compulsory in all transactions related to property.

This will help in verifying identity, preventing the use of fake identity and also, preventing fraudulent transactions, he said.

This comes in the wake of reports that fake identification papers, including some of those belonging to some deceased persons, were being used for land-related transactions in the district in the recent months.

“Cases of fake identity, transfer of property through fake documents and unauthorized registration of government and public property have been observed in the district. In order to prevent any fraud, these orders have been issued. Appropriate legal action will be taken against those who violate the orders,” said a release.
