The Aircraft Accident Investigation (AAIB) has issued an appeal to the public and the media “to refrain from spreading premature narratives” about the Air India crash of June 12 and targeted international media for “selective and unverified reporting”.

“We urge both the public and the media to refrain from spreading premature narratives that risk undermining the integrity of the investigative process,” reads the public notice signed by the Director General of AAIB, GVG Yugandhar.

It added that the final report will bring out root causes and recommendations and therefore everyone must wait for the investigation to conclude.

The AAIB has also sought to reassure that it will publish updates. The statement comes amidst criticism that it has not been forthcoming with information about the crash since the June 12 accident of the Boeing 787-8.
