The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday claimed that its student welfare initiative in Punjab had influenced other states after the Bihar government announced free travel for NEET aspirants on state-run buses. AAP leader Anurag Dhandha made the remark after Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced that all candidates appearing for the NEET examination would be allowed to travel free of cost on government buses across the state.
“Arvind Kejriwal had already said that he has come not to do politics, but to change it," Dhandha said in a post on X. He added that the AAP government in Punjab had earlier introduced free bus travel for NEET examinees on the initiative of party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, and that “now governments in other states are also having to take this decision."
https://t.co/ZVgFg5ss5N— Anurag Dhanda (@anuragdhanda) May 23, 2026
Announcing the measure, Choudhary said, “For the convenience of all examinees appearing in the NEET examination, travel will be free on all government buses of the state of Bihar."
The Bihar Chief Minister also appealed to district administrations, monasteries, temples and non-governmental organisations to arrange drinking water, sattu and other basic facilities for examinees and their parents at bus stands, railway stations and other major locations.
“Heartfelt best wishes to all candidates for the examination," Choudhary said.

The announcement comes ahead of the NEET examination, which is conducted for admission to undergraduate medical courses across the country and sees participation from lakhs of students every year.
AAP leaders sought to draw a parallel between Bihar’s decision and the earlier move by the Punjab government, presenting it as an example of other states adopting policies first introduced by AAP-led administrations.
