Abu Dhabi-Bound Flight Grounded in Chennai After Wing Fire
An Etihad Airways flight bound for Abu Dhabi was grounded at Chennai International Airport on Tuesday after a fire reportedly broke out on the aircraft’s left wing during take-off preparations.
According to airport officials, the flight was carrying around 280 passengers when the incident occurred. The pilots noticed the fire while the aircraft was preparing for departure and immediately aborted the journey as a precautionary measure.
Emergency response teams and Fire Service personnel rushed to the spot and quickly brought the situation under control. Officials said the fire was extinguished immediately, preventing any further damage or risk to passengers and crew members.
All passengers were safely disembarked from the aircraft and no injuries were reported in the incident. Airport authorities confirmed that the flight was later cancelled following the fire scare.
The exact cause of the fire on the wing has not yet been disclosed. Authorities are expected to conduct an investigation into the incident to determine what triggered the fire during take-off preparations.
