Adarsh Gourav, known for projects such as Mom, The White Tiger, Guns & Gulaabs, Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, Superboys of Malegaon and Tu Yaa Main, has stepped into documentary storytelling with Voices of the Land, an immersive new docu-series that explores the cultural richness of Northeast India. The trailer offers a glimpse into Adarsh’s journey across the region as he connects with indigenous communities through their music, folklore, rituals, oral histories and everyday lives. Through intimate storytelling and cinematic visuals, Voices of the Land explores themes of identity, heritage, resilience and the urgent need to preserve fading cultural narratives. The series, which will premiere on JioHotstar in June 2026, spotlights four indigenous communities: the Khasi from Meghalaya, the Biate from Assam, the Sherdukpen from Arunachal Pradesh and the Angami from Nagaland, each offering a unique perspective on tradition, creativity and their deep-rooted connection with nature.

Reflecting on the experience of working on the series, Adarsh shares, “Voices of the Land has been one of the most eye-opening experiences for me as a storyteller. I was constantly in awe of the knowledge these communities had of their surroundings, the plants, the animals, and everything the land provides. Biodiversity Day feels especially meaningful because it’s not just about protecting nature, but also preserving the traditions and wisdom of people who have lived in harmony with it for generations.

I’m grateful to be part of this documentary and help bring these stories and voices to a larger audience.”
