ADGP Ajith Kumar moves HC in disproportionate assets case

Additional Director General of Police M.R. Ajith Kumar has approached the Kerala High Court, challenging a Special Court rebuffing the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau’s (VACB) preliminary inquiry report exonerating him from any wrongdoing in a disproportionate assets case.

He had been accused of illegal amassment of wealth, unlawful felling of valuable timber from government property, and profiting from contraband gold and hawala interdictions.

In his plea before the High Court, Mr. Ajith Kumar said he was deeply aggrieved by a ‘false and baseless private complaint’ filed against him and the ‘present course of action taken by the Special Court’. This is a clear contravention of various decisions of the Supreme Court, he said.
