Trump accused the Democrats of rushing the US into a deal with Iran, which he insisted would be "far better" than the 2015 nuclear deal under Obama.

Amid uncertainty over the talks between Iran and the United States in Islamabad, US President Donald Trump denied that he was under any pressure to strike a deal with Tehran, while promising that the deal would be “far better" than the 2015 nuclear deal struck under his predecessor Barack Obama.

In a fiery rant against Democrats, Trump accused his opponents of rushing the US into making a deal with Iran and hurting America’s position. “I read the Fake News saying that I am under “pressure" to make a Deal. THIS IS NOT TRUE! I am under no pressure whatsoever, although, it will all happen, relatively quickly," he said.

“We’re in it, and it will be done RIGHT, and we won’t let the Weak and Pathetic Democrats, TRAITORS ALL, who for years have been talking about the Dangers of Iran, and that something has to be done, but now, since I’m the one doing it, belittle the accomplishments of our Military and the Trump Administration," he added.

This came as the two-week ceasefire between the two warring sides came under strain after the US said it had seized an Iranian cargo ship that tried to run its blockade, and Tehran vowed to retaliate. The upcoming talks in Pakistan remained shrouded in uncertainty, although Iran said it was “positively" reviewing peace talks.

Trump Says Iran Deal Will Be ‘Far Better’

In a separate post, Trump said he believed a nuclear deal the US is negotiating with Iran will be better than the international agreement agreed to in 2015 to curb Tehran’s nuclear programme. Trump withdrew the US from the 2015 deal and reimposed harsh sanctions that crippled Iran’s economy.

“The DEAL that we are making with Iran will be FAR BETTER than the JCPOA, commonly referred to as “The Iran Nuclear Deal," penned by Barack Hussein Obama and Sleepy Joe Biden, one of the Worst Deals ever made having to do with the Security of our Country," he said.

Earlier, Trump said an Iran deal could be signed “today" in Pakistan, even though US Vice President JD Vance was yet to leave the United States, and Iran negotiators said they had no plans to attend the Islamabad talks. However, Trump said “lots of bombs will start going off" if the fragile ceasefire expires.

The ceasefire, which followed months of conflict that began with US-Israeli strikes on February 28, is due to expire overnight on Tuesday. The US has maintained its blockade of Iranian ports, while Iran lifted and then reimposed its own blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, which typically handles roughly one-fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied gas supply.
