‘AI on Wheels’ to take tech education to remote hills of Uttarakhand

Gurmit Singh (Retd.) on Wednesday inaugurated an AI Theme Room and flagged off the AI on Wheels mobile laboratory at Lok Bhavan in Dehradun as part of the state’s efforts to expand access to artificial intelligence education.The AI Theme Room, developed at Lok Bhavan, has been equipped with robotics, IoT devices and advanced computing infrastructure. Officials said it will function as an innovation centre where students and researchers can learn, experiment and develop technology-driven solutions to real-world problems.The mobile laboratory will travel across remote villages and hilly regions of Uttarakhand to provide technology education to students who do not have access to such facilities."Technological sovereignty will be the greatest strength of a developed India," the governor said, urging young people to become creators, and not just consumers, of technology.The initiatives were developed by young innovators from Techno Hub Engineering led by Siddharth Madhav. During the event, a live robotics demonstration in which robots distributed souvenirs to children drew applause from the audience.

Officials said both initiatives are part of Operation Kalki, a statewide programme that covered all 13 districts of Uttarakhand and engaged govt school students in sessions on AI and innovation. The programme also saw students pitch 108 app ideas related to agriculture, tourism, education and public services.
