Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav also joined the satirical political group, Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Wednesday.

The group, launched online after Chief Justice Surya Kant reportedly compared unemployed youth to cockroaches, has become an overnight sensation, suggesting a direct contest between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and the so-called ‘CJP’.

In a post on X, Akhilesh Yadav shared a cryptic 3-word tweet: “BJP banam CJP" (or BJP versus CJP).

Cockroach Janta Party’s official Instagram page, which has gained more that six million followers, is also being followed by several celebrities.

Among others, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap and actresses Konkona Sen Sharma and Esha Gupta have also started following CJP’s Instagram handle.

Meanwhile, several other TV artists, including Umar Riaz, Abhishek Nigam, Uorfi Javed, Nagma Mirajkar, Purav Jha, Shafaq Naaz and Sheizaan Khan also follow Cockroach Janta Party on Instagram. Comedian Kunal Kamra and Punjabi singer-actress Himanshi Khurana have also joined the social media buzz.

What Is Cockroach Janta Party?

A satirical political group named Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) was recently launched online after Chief Justice Surya Kant reportedly compared unemployed youth to cockroaches. Founded by Abhijeet Dipke, the CJP, launched on May 16, rapidly exploded across X and Instagram. The party attained thousands of followers on social media within days, turning what began as an internet joke into a viral political movement.

In just couple of days, the party has become Gen Z’s latest internet obsession. Across Instagram Reels, X, and meme pages, young people are jokingly begging to join the fictional political party, declaring themselves “eligible candidates" for leadership positions based on absolutely questionable life skills.

The CJP’s manifesto, which the party describes as “secular, socialist, democratic, lazy," includes demands such as a ban on post-retirement Rajya Sabha seats for chief justices, 50 per cent reservation for women in parliament without increasing the strength of the house, and a 20-year election ban for defecting MLAs and MPs.
