While Akshay Kumar won't grace the screens in 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge', movie enthusiasts can look forward to his hilarious horror-comedy 'Bhooth Bangla', which will unveil a foot-tapping song at its premiere. Producer Ekta Kapoor is optimistic that the track's catchy vibes, invoking nostalgia of 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa's chartbuster, will spark excitement among fans.
Audiences recently applauded Akshaye Khanna’s performance in ‘Dhurandhar’, and excitement is already building for its follow-up, ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, slated for a March 19 release.
While speculation has been rife about Akshay Kumar appearing in the action drama, insiders clarify that the superstar will not feature in the film itself. Instead, viewers will witness a special surprise linked to his upcoming project.
‘Bhooth Bangla’ song to debut with ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’
Rather than a cameo, a promotional track from Akshay Kumar’s horror comedy ‘Bhooth Bangla’ will be screened alongside ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, effectively unveiling the first glimpse of director Priyadarshan’s much-anticipated movie. This unusual move breaks from the tradition of attaching trailers to theatrical releases.
Why a song instead of a trailer?
As mentioned by Mid-Day, sources say producer Ekta Kapoor believed a music launch would generate stronger recall than a conventional teaser. “Akshay and Priyadarshan’s 2007 horror comedy ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ benefited immensely from its title song, ‘Teri Aankhein Bhool Bhulaiyaa’, which became wildly popular. So, this time, with Pritam having composed another song that has the potential to become a chartbuster, Ektaa felt it would catch on among listeners and create buzz around ‘Bhooth Bangla’.
Attaching it to ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ made sense as it’s among the most awaited,” the source revealed.
Grand scale filming of ‘Bhooth Bangla’ with a spooky twist
Co-starring Tabu and Wamiqa Gabbi, ‘Bhooth Bangla’ is described as a fantasy horror comedy rooted in themes of black magic. The musical number was reportedly shot on an elaborate set resembling a haunted mansion, complete with over 100 background dancers performing alongside Akshay Kumar. With its blend of spectacle, nostalgia and horror-comedy elements, the strategy aims to spark early curiosity about ‘Bhooth Bangla’ while capitalising on the anticipation surrounding ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’.
