Maharashtra Police arrested Balaji Rathod for allegedly strangling his four-year-old daughter Aarushi to death after she asked for money to buy chocolate.

Maharashtra Police have arrested a man, addicted to alcohol, who allegedly strangled his four-year-old daughter to death on Sunday after she demanded money to buy chocolate in Latur district of Maharashtra.

According to the police, the accused has been identified as Balaji Rathod. He was arrested following the incident on the charge of murder.

“Rathod was addicted to alcohol, which caused frequent quarrels in his family. His wife had left him and started staying with her father. In the afternoon, his daughter Aarushi asked him for money to buy chocolate. In a fit of rage, he strangled her to death using a saree," the official said.

Varsha Rathod, the wife of the accused, has demanded capital punishment for her husband, who is a resident of Bhima Tanda in Udgir taluka of Latur district.

The police have taken action based on a complaint filed by Varsha Rathod, registering an FIR and making an arrest. Further investigation into the matter is underway.

In a separate incident that took place in Delhi, a 40-year-old man stabbed his 10-year-old son in a fit of rage. The accused claimed that his son wanted to go out and play in the rain, but he objected.

As the child continued insisting, the man reportedly picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed the boy in the chest.

The police have arrested the father and recovered the knife used in the crime.

A PCR call was received from Dada Dev Hospital around 1:30 pm, reporting the admission of a child who had allegedly been stabbed by his father. Unfortunately, the boy was declared dead upon arrival by the doctors.

According to the police, the boy was living with his father and three siblings in a one-room rented accommodation in Mohan Block in Sagarpur. “His mother had passed away a few years ago, and the children were being looked after solely by the father," read the statement.
