Subnautica 2 has a huge alien ocean, and you need to evolve to survive it. One of the ways you can do the same is via Adaptations, which are biological upgrades that unlock new survival options.
They can give you a variety of benefits, like breathing pressurised air and interacting with alien technology. Keep in mind that Adaptations in Subnautica 2 are tied to large organic structures called Angel Combs, and unlocking them is crucial for progressing through the game. In the current Early Access build, there are four known Adaptations: Pressure Tolerance, Digestion, Heat Tolerance, and Axum Vision. Here is how you can get them in Subnautica 2.
How to get all Adaptations in Subnautica 2
Here are further details about all the Adaptations in Subnautica 2 and how you can get them:
Pressure Tolerance
This is the first one that you can unlock, and it happens even before you crash into the ocean. Essentially, during the prologue sequence inside the habitat, you are forced to interact with an Angel Comb. The same grants you the Pressure Tolerance Adaptation. Thanks to the Pressure Tolerance Adaptation in Subnautica 2, you can breathe highly pressurised air, meaning your oxygen level will not be depleted when you are in non-submerged pressurised spaces.
Digestion
The Digestion Adaptation in Subnautica 2 can be located around 160 to 180 meters north-northeast of the Lifepod. A good landmark for the same is Anita's blackbox recording, and the Angel Comb is nearby.Unlike later Adaptations, you do not need to clear any Bloom here. Just reach the Angel Comb and interact with the pink bulb. Once you get your hands on the Digestion Adaptation, it lets you safely consume any food you prepare from local resources.
Heat Tolerance
Heat Tolerance is a wonderful Adaptation in Subnautica 2, and the Angel Comb for the same is located near Wander's blackbox recording. Unlike the previous flowers, this one is completely sealed shut by a viral infection. As a result, you must craft a Sonic Resonator to blast the glowing blue Bloom Cankers spreading across the plant's two tendrils. Once you clear both tendril chambers and return to the central node, you will be able to interact with the bulb to claim Heat Tolerance.
Axum Vision
The Axum Vision Adaptation is arguably the best Adaptation currently available in Subnautica 2, and you can find it past the Alien Base, around 1,800 meters east of the Lifepod. You go to this area after completing the objectives in the Tadpole Pens. The sheer distance and the presence of Leviathans make a Tadpole vehicle mandatory. You also need to craft the Depth Module for your sub, as this Angel Comb sits well below the 250-meter crush depth threshold. Keep in mind that the standard Sonic Resonator is useless, and you will require the Feedback Resonator instead. After using it, you can interact with the bulb to get Axum Vision, which allows you to interact with Axum technology.
