An all-party forum in Nandyal has announced a ‘Maha Satyagraha’ on July 25 to protest the alleged allotment of public land in Nunepalle Market Yard for a political party office and to seek protection of the Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS).

The decision was taken at a preparatory meeting chaired by All-Party Joint Action Forum convener Eruva Ramachandra Reddy. The forum alleged that while the government cited a lack of alternative land to relocate the temporary Collectorate from the RARS campus, it allotted nearly two acres of market yard land on a 33-year lease at a nominal rent for a party office.

The forum also expressed concern over the future of the 120-year-old RARS, alleging that continued use of its campus as the temporary Collectorate was weakening agricultural research.

Ahead of the protest, the forum will conduct a door-to-door awareness campaign from July 15 to 24. It urged farmers, youth, intellectuals and the public to participate in the July 25 agitation demanding cancellation of the land allotment and relocation of the Collectorate, according to a press release.
