New Delhi: Amazon has kicked off the Alexa+ rollout recently, and it is starting with the US, ending the early access phase and rolling out the next-generation AI assistant to all users across the region. Alexa+ is currently available on the Echo devices, through the Alexa application, and on the web, with Amazon, unveiling a tiered access model that will include free, paid, and Prime-linked options. As part of this rollout, Amazon has also confirmed that the Prime members in the US will get full, unlimited access to the Alexa+ at no additional cost.
Amazon has also provided the Alexa+ as a standalone subscription and a limited free experience for non-Prime users. At the same time, Amazon has not announced any specific timeline for the Indian region. It has also confirmed that its recently unveiled Echo Show 11 and Echo Show 8 (4th generation) will support Alexa+. This also suggested that the service could make it an easy way for India in the coming months, potentially bundled with Prime, similar to the US rollout. If we discuss in the US, Amazon is offering Alexa+ standalone subscription, which is priced at $19.99 (roughly 1,800) per month. This plan also provides unlimited access to the Alexa+ across the supported Echo devices, the Alexa application, and the web, mirroring the experience that Prime members receive.
For users without a Prime subscription, Amazon has also unveiled the free, text-based Alexa+ chat experience for free users. This latest Alexa+ version is currently available through the Alexa website and application, enables users to type queries instead of using voice commands. It also supports basic tasks such as quick questions, research, planning, and topic exploration, though the usage is limited and does not include device-wide or unlimited access.
