The male tiger had a miraculous escape from being tranquilized by the experts while it was resting at an abandoned house in the heart of Kurmapuram village of Rayavaram Mandal in East Godavari district on Friday (February 06).

The tiger’s presence in the village was initially confirmed by the farmers who noticed its pug marks in the paddy fields while they were spraying pesticides near the Kurmapuram village. Later, the villagers found the tiger outside an abandoned house and immediately informed the Forest department.

Initially, the tiger was found resting in the bushes outside the abandoned house, giving an opportunity to the experts to initiate the tranquilization task. The locals screamed and the big cat on seeing them, dived into an irrigation canal in the village and ran away into the paddy fields, thereby escaping from being tranquilized.

The Forest department officials, police and local authorities have been appealing to the locals not to make a noise and disturb the tiger but their appeals went in vain.
