Kochi: Judicial first-class magistrate court, Tripunithura, has directed police to investigate a complaint filed by actor Ansiba Hassan alleging illegal detention and harassment. The complaint was filed seeking action against actor Lakshmipriya, her husband Jayesh and Reshma, a sub-inspector.
Sources said that the court on Saturday issued the directive after Hassan challenged the police decision to close her police complaint. The actor’s allegation is that she was summoned to Tripunithura Women’s Cell in connection with a complaint lodged by Lakshmipriya. The actor claims that she was made to stay at the police station for nearly three hours and was subjected to harassment by SI Reshma. Hassan alleged that it was a fake case.
The woman has also alleged that she was compelled to write and sign an apology at the police station, the content of which was earlier altered. The actor earlier approached the chief minister and the home minister seeking action against those involved. Subsequently, an inquiry conducted by the Thrikkakara assistant commissioner of police reportedly found no merit in the allegations, and hence police closed the complaint. Similarly, the Ernakulam district court directed police to register a case against actor Tini Tom after she challenged the police’s decision not to register an FIR in that case.
