Four persons were sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and fined ₹1 lakh each by the First District and Sessions Court in Anantapur in a ganja trafficking case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Judge C. Satyavani delivered the verdict on Monday (May 11, 2026) after holding the accused guilty under Section 8(c) read with 20(b) of the Act. The case stemmed from a police raid near Shikari Colony on Alur Road in Guntakal on February 23, 2024, during which police seized 6 kg of ganja from the accused.

District SP P. Jagadeesh commended the investigating and prosecution teams for securing the conviction.
