AP Chambers Tourism panel seeks MSME tag for projects up to ₹50 crore

The Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation (AP Chambers) State Tourism Committee, led by Chairman R.V. Swamy and AP Chambers president Bhaskara Rao held a meeting with Special Chief Secretary for Tourism and Culture Ajay Jain and Managing Director and CEO (FAC) Padmavathi to discuss measures for strengthening the tourism sector in Andhra Pradesh.

The committee presented several key proposals aimed at accelerating tourism development. It requested that tourism projects up to ₹50 crore be brought under MSME support schemes to facilitate easier access for incentives, financing, and government assistance. The committee also sought relaxation of financial eligibility requirements, including turnover and net worth criteria, for genuine investors developing tourism projects on their own land.

To boost tourism promotion, the committee proposed creating a network of 50 active travel agents and tour operators to market Andhra Pradesh aggressively in domestic and international markets. Concerns regarding the shortage of skilled manpower in the hospitality sector were also raised, with suggestions for enhanced training and skill development initiatives.

Additionally, the committee recommended the formation of a Tourism Stakeholders Committee that would meet every two months to address industry challenges and ensure timely resolution of issues.

Mr. Ajay Jain emphasised the importance of collaboration among stakeholders and reiterated the government’s commitment to significantly increasing tourist arrivals and advancing Andhra Pradesh as a premier tourism destination.
