Apple may follow iPhone 17 Pro colour strategy with iPhone 18 Pro: Report

Apple may once again skip offering a black colour option for its Pro iPhone models, according to a new leak on Weibo about the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro lineup, the black variant for the iPhone 18 Pro has been “cancelled again.

” If accurate, this would mark the second year in a row that Apple does not include a black finish in its Pro models. Apple did not offer a black option with the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, which were launched in colours such as deep blue, silver and cosmic orange. This was a change from earlier models like the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro, which included black titanium finishes. The iPhone 14 Pro also featured a “Space Black” variant.The latest leak indicates that Apple may continue with a similar colour strategy for the iPhone 18 Pro lineup. While the wording of the leak suggests the colour was “cancelled,” it likely means that Apple is not planning to introduce a black version this year as well.Black has traditionally been one of the most common iPhone colours for over a decade. But as mentioned above, recent models have focused on newer shades, including brighter or more distinctive finishes.

Do note that there is no official confirmation from Apple on the colour options for the iPhone 18 Pro models.

According to leaks, the iPhone 18 Pro models will retain a similar design to the iPhone 17 Pro series, including a triple-camera setup at the back. However, the front may see changes. A recent leak hinted at a smaller Dynamic Island on the iPhone 18 Pro. That’s not all! Some reports also suggest that the company could test a punch-hole style cutout, though most leaks point to a reduced Dynamic Island rather than its removal.The display sizes, on the other hand, are likely to remain the same at 6.3 inches for the iPhone Pro model and 6.9 inches for the iPhone 18 Pro Max.

With the iPhone 18 Pro, Apple is said to introduce a variable aperture in the main camera, allowing users to control light and depth better.
