The leaders of the Andhra Pradesh Public Transport Department (RTC) Employees’ Joint Action Committee (JAC) announced on Sunday (June 21, 2026) the launch of a direct agitation starting June 23 seeking resolution of the employees’ issues, measures to protect the public sector corporation, and secure employees’ rights.
In a statement, JAC Conveners Y. Srinivasa Rao and Palisetti Damodara Rao said that, in accordance with the decisions made at the RTC Employees’ JAC meeting held on June 8, representations were submitted on June 11 to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Secretary Sai Prasad, Special Chief Secretary of the Transport, Roads and Buildings Department M.T. Krishna Babu, and APSRTC officials.
They said that preparatory conferences for the agitation were conducted between June 16 and June 20 at Vizianagaram, Vijayawada, Nellore, Tirupati, and Anantapur, covering the four zones across the State. The conferences received an overwhelming response from employees.
The JAC leaders stated that the employees had expressed their full support for the proposed agitation programme. As part of it, they would attend duties wearing red badges and organise demonstrations on June 23 and 24. They further announced that a State-level JAC meeting would be held in Vijayawada on June 28 to comprehensively discuss the future course of the movement and to announce the next phase of action.
The JAC appealed to the RTC employees across the State to come together and make the agitation for the resolution of the legitimate demands of PTD employees a success. It also called upon all unions and associations within the RTC to join the movement, assuring that the JAC would work collectively with all organizations that come forward to lead the agitation unitedly.
The statement was endorsed by co-conveners P.V. Ramana Reddy, G.V. Narasayya, C.H. Sundarayya, Katta Subrahmanyam, S.V. Seshagiri Rao, Y. Srinivasa Rao, K. Suryaprakasa Rao and D. Malyadri.
