The Andhra Pradesh Public Transport Department (APPTD-APSRTC) Employees’ Union has urged management to extend the same allowances and daily duty incentives to on-call and hired bus drivers as those received by regular drivers.
In a statement on Friday, the union’s State president, P. Damodara Rao, and general secretary, G. V. Narasayya, noted that APSRTC recently increased payments for double duties and special assignments—₹900 for conductors, ₹1,000 for drivers, ₹1,800 for special/night halts, and ₹2,000 for double muster duties. However, on-call drivers were reportedly being paid less and inconsistently across depots, ranging from ₹800 to ₹1,800 instead of the ₹1,000 to ₹2,000 given to regular drivers.
The union also pointed out that daily duty incentives for drivers of hired buses and on-call drivers have been stopped in some depots. They said that such disparities could negatively affect the success of the Stree Shakti scheme and demanded that equal payments be restored for all drivers.
