The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday, August 21 arrested a Motor Vehicle Inspector from Nizamabad district and his driver after they were caught demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹25,000.

The accused were identified as Gurram Vivekananda Reddy, posted as Motor Vehicle Inspector at Armoor, and his driver, Nelli Thirupathi, 53. According to the ACB, the bribe was demanded in return for official favours including registration of vehicles, renewal of licences, and issuance of learning licences.

The officials said that the demand was routed through Thirupathi and the complainant was assured that his pending files would be cleared once the payment was made. The ACB recovered the tainted amount of ₹25,000 from Thirupathi, who had collected it on behalf of the inspector.

Both men were arrested and produced before the II Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally, Hyderabad. Further investigation is underway.

The ACB has urged citizens to report instances of bribery by public servants on its toll-free number 1064. Complaints can also be filed via WhatsApp (9440446106), Facebook (Telangana ACB) and X at @TelanganaACB. Officials assured that the identity of complainants will be kept confidential.
