Three drown in a local water pond at Rajampet

Three youngsters met with a watery grave in Rajampet mandal of Annamayya district on Thursday (August 21, 2025). The students were part of a group from Annamacharya University who went to spend some joyful time in a water body, the police said.

According to Rajampet police, eight students studying MBA in the University went to Balarajupalle Cheyyeru area where water from the upstream areas have filled up to brim a local water pond. Unaware of the deep pits inside, four of them went deep into the water pond and started to drown. One of them was rescued by others but three of them drowned.

Police, revenue and fire services personnel rushed to the spot and took rescue operations. They fished out the bodies of Dileep Manikumar (22), Kothuru Chandrasekhara Reddy of Vontimetta and P. Keshav (22) of Porumamilla. The bodies were shifted to Rajampet government hospital and the police have registered a case and took up investigation.
