From chaos to clarity, Arsenal have lived every emotion this past week. Now, they’re just one game away from the promised land: the UEFA Champions League final.
And the best part? They’ve etched a bit of unprecedented history along the way.
Arsenal’s Journey To The Precipice Of Greatness
It wasn’t pretty, but it didn’t need to be.
A gritty, hard-fought display at the Emirates saw Arsenal grind out a 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid, with Bukayo Saka delivering the decisive blow.
After a tense 1-1 draw in the first leg at the Metropolitano, this was always going to be a battle. And it played out exactly that way.
Forget flair. This was about nerve.
Mikel Arteta’s men traded aesthetics for steel, digging deep in a bruising contest that demanded patience and resilience. It may not have been easy on the eye, but for Arsenal fans, the result was everything.
A Night Of Release
The final whistle sparked more than celebration; it brought relief.
Arsenal are back in the Champions League final for the first time since 2006, when they fell 2-1 to FC Barcelona in Paris. That remains their only appearance in the showpiece, and they’ve never lifted the trophy.
Their European honours still stand at the 1994 Cup Winners’ Cup and the 1970 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup. But this season feels different.
After 90 gruelling minutes and a slice of fortune along the way, the Gunners now find themselves on the brink of history.
Arsenal’s Shot At Immortality
A victory in the Hungarian capital would make the Arsenal squad immortal and etch their names into the club’s history books. However, the 2025/26 side has already achieved something no other team has.
According to Opta, Arsenal are now the only team to have played 14 or more Champions League games in a single campaign while remaining unbeaten in the competition.
No club has played more Champions League games without winning the trophy than Arsenal. That long-standing record still hangs over them.
But not for much longer, if they have their way.
Double Dreams Alive
It’s not just Europe keeping Arsenal fans dreaming; The Gunners are also closing in on the Premier League title.
A slip from Manchester City earlier this week has handed Arteta’s side control of the race. And once again, the title is Mikel Arteta’s to lose.
All they need? Three wins — from West Ham, Burnley, and Crystal Palace — and the PL crown that has eluded them for 22 years will be theirs again.
Once the league wraps up, it’s off to Hungary for their date with destiny.
Awaiting them in the final? Either Paris Saint-Germain or Bayern Munich. A daunting task, but a shot at immortality.
