Ashok refuses rent allowance on being denied quarters of his choice

With the State government yet to allot an official quarters of his preference to R. Ashok, even after raising the issue four times, the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly has written to the Chief Secretary stating that he had stopped accepting rent allowance as a mark of protest from April 2026.

Mr. Ashok had sought any one of three locaitons – 1 Kumara Park East, 1 Race View Cottage or 2 Race View Cottage – as his preference for official residence.

In his letter to Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh, he has cited the earlier four letters and urged her to address this as an urgent issue and allot him a designated quarters.
