NEW DELHI: Bangladesh on Friday announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming Asia Cup, with Litton Das set to continue as captain and wicketkeeper-batter Quazi Nurul Hasan Sohan making a return after almost three years.Nurul, 31, last featured in the format during the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia. Litton, who recently led Bangladesh to their maiden T20I series win against Sri Lanka and followed it up with a series victory over *** at home in July, will be looking to extend that momentum on the continental stage. Among the senior names headlining the squad are left-arm seamer Mustafizur Rahman and pace spearhead Taskin Ahmed, with Shoriful Islam also adding to the attack’s strength.Ahead of the Asia Cup, Bangladesh will also play a three-match T20I series against the Netherlands in Sylhet, beginning August 30. That series is expected to provide the side with important match practice and a chance to test combinations.Soumya Sarkar, Mehidy Hassan Miraz, Tanvir Islam and Hasan Mahmud have been named as standby players for the Asia Cup.
